Karalee Nakatsuka has taught U.S. History at First Avenue Middle School in the Arcadia Unified School District since 1990. She is passionate about learning and growing as an educator, collaborating, building community in her classroom through restorative practices, and utilizing technology and the power of place to make history come alive for her students.  She loves learning and connecting with other educators through summer PD and Twitter and  is a proud  alumna of the Monticello Teachers Institute as well as Ford’s Theatre Teach Reconstruction Seminar. She is also the Gilder Lehrman 2019 California History Teacher of the Year and an iCivics Educator Network Member.
